The entire liturgical life of the Church revolves around the Eucharist and the other six sacraments.
"The sacraments are efficacious signs of grace, instituted by Christ and entrusted to the Church, by which divine life is dispensed to us" - Catholic Catechism 1131.
Sacraments are occasions for communicating divine life (grace) because of the power of God and not because of the goodness of the minister who celebrates the sacrament. Whether a sacrament actually brings about a change in the people receiving it depends on their personal disposition.
